Organizational Announcement
June 6, 2025
The Board of Directors of The Educator Collective (TEC) and UNT Dallas President Warren von Eschenbach, PhD are pleased to announce that, effective August 1, 2025, the Principal Impact Collaborative at UNT Dallas (PIC) will officially become part of The Educator Collective. At this time, Alejandra Barbosa, Executive Director of PIC, will assume the Chief Executive Officer role of The Educator Collective.

The TEC Board of Directors and UNT Dallas believe strongly that by combining our leadership and programs under one umbrella, we will amplify our collective impact on the schools we serve. Together, we will support the entire public school leadership ecosystem, creating exponential benefits for our school partners, including:
-
Cascading Leadership Development – Principals trained in effective leadership practices directly influence teacher development, while empowered teacher leaders provide critical support to principals.
-
Consistent School Culture – When both principals and teachers receive aligned support, school culture improvements accelerate, creating a positive feedback loop of both retention and satisfaction.
-
Resource Efficiency – Shared infrastructure, combined expertise, and coordinated programming allow us to reach more educators more effectively.
“We are proud of the work that has been accomplished by Principal Impact Collaborative since joining UNT Dallas in 2019. Since then, it has supported over 500 leaders across 15 school districts and has witnessed an 89% principal retention rate compared to a 79% Texas statewide average,” said President von Eschenbach. “We are confident that this impact will only be accelerated when its programs are combined with the teacher-focused support of The Educator Collective.”

Both The Educator Collective and Principal Impact Collaborative will be finding solutions to the crisis in education leadership that is having a direct impact on our most vulnerable students. Principal turnover in the state of Texas reached a 10-year high in 2023, and 85% of school leaders report significant job stress. In that same year, 21.4% of Texas teachers left their positions and 75% of Texas teachers are considering leaving the profession.
Robert Taylor, Founder and Board Chair of The Educator Collective, said, “Aligning the principal-focused PIC programs and teacher-focused TEC programs on the same campuses will undoubtedly have significant impact on mitigating school leadership attrition. Doing so will result in lower costs for our school partners and greater stability of learning environment for our students.”

This summer, the new leadership team will be working on creating a new name for the combined entity, with a public announcement of that name to coincide with the start of the 2025-2026 school year. UNT Dallas and the new organization will continue to work collaboratively toward ensuring a compliantly, smooth transition.
