Fatima Burney
Associate, Operations
Fatima Burney is the Associate of Operations at The Educator Collective, with over six years of cross-sector experience spanning nonprofit organizations, public service, and higher education. She holds a Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University and is currently completing a Master’s degree in International Relations. Fatima earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Texas Christian University. Her professional background includes serving in a foundational role supporting refugee and immigrant communities in Syracuse, New York, where she led organizational communications, development initiatives, education programs, and federal workforce grants. She has also led initiatives serving educators through the federal McKinney-Vento grant with the Oregon Department of Education, focused on education access and educator support.
In her current role, Fatima supports day-to-day operations and internal systems that enable teams to work efficiently and effectively. She is passionate about uplifting people and helping them find agency through education, and she is driven by the belief that supporting educators strengthens their ability to support students. She was a McNair Scholar and a recipient of the U.S. Department of Education’s Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship. Outside of work, Fatima enjoys watercolor painting and exploring art as a creative outlet.
